Baby Loss Awareness Week

As we enter Baby Loss Awareness month we wanted to let you know about all the great initiatives we have running this month!

Firstly, make sure you keep an eye on our social media pages for updates and information on what Our Angel Bears offers as a charity, the support we can offer you and your families, and keepsakes you can purchase to remember your angels with all proceeds going towards continuing our work.

For those of you based in Dorset, we have a special service for those who have suffered the loss of a baby which will take place at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital .

The service will be an opportunity for bereaved parents, as well as their friends and families, to commemorate the lives of lost little ones.

It will also help to open a wider dialogue around miscarriages and baby loss organisers hope.

The event forms part of national Baby Loss Awareness Week.

Reverend Duncan Ridgeon will lead the service in the hospital’s chapel with support from the hospital’s specialist nurses and representatives from Our Angel Bears, and those of all faiths or none are invited to attend.

Rev Ridgeon said: “We have a dedicated team of employees working tirelessly across our chaplaincy, maternity, pathology and patient services in order to provide the very best support possible for mums who are referred to us owing to baby loss.

“We felt passionately about supporting Baby Loss Awareness Week and raising awareness about baby loss in the UK, so we will be offering a special remembrance service for those who want to mark the passing of their little one in a special way.”

The service will take place at the hospital's chapel at 7pm on Thursday October 13th

For more information, call the RBH Chaplaincy Team on 01202 704221.

For those based further afield we are hosting a virtual support group on 12th October. All are welcome to come along, share experiences and gain support or more information on how we can help you further. Details of this will be posted on our Facebook page, and if you wish to attend send us a message via our socials or website and we will confirm log in details.

Then on 14th October, our co founder Suzanne will be talking at a UHD Women’s Network event  at Royal Bournemouth Hospital. At this event Suzanne will be talking about baby loss, and raising awareness for baby loss awareness week, and continuing her great work on breaking down the stigma and normalising discussing baby loss.

From 9-15th October we also have an awareness stand on view at Bournemouth hospital, as well as a stand at Tesco Tower Park in Poole with information (alongside our charity bookshelf), and on Friday 14th the lovely Olina from our team will be on site to provide further information too!

Then in the West Midlands, Nicki is hosting a stand at her local hospitals baby loss awareness week event.

As well as all this, we have our regular support groups running this month too where you can attend to gain in person support and meet others who have shared experiences.

If there is anything you’d like to see from us this month do let us know as always, and keep an eye on our website and socials for further information and blog posts!
